Report from Tony’s 10m group | Southgate Amateur Radio News

0

Another lean week. Sunday was OK. I worked 5R8LH (Madagascar) on 10m. A first time any group. Also worked 7Q7EMH on 10m and other DX on 20m.

Lots of traffic was after OJ0DX (Market Reef), FM5BH (Martinique), D4Z (Cape Verde). What set of antennas they have and what takeoff. Well, they are a competition group.

Sun: 6 or more sunspots from Tuesday. So far this year, we’ve only had one spotless day!

A current of solar wind hit the Earth’s magnetic field on August 7. At first, the current’s speed was low, but during the day it accelerated to over 600 km/s, eventually triggering a G2 (moderately strong) class geomagnetic storm. This event was not planned, so the resulting auroras were a surprise. (spaceweather.com)

Footy: Stoke managed a creditable 2 – 0 win at home to Blackpool. There is an evening game in the Carabao Cup against Morecambe. It was formerly called the Coupe de la Ligue. Stoke won it in 1972 against Chelsea. Saturday we visit Huddersfield.

Last word! Stoke City lost on penalties to 10 Morecambe men. Ashamed.
