Noel Gallagher gets his own radio station

Before the release of Noel Gallagher’s Birds of Flight‘Best Of Collection, Back as we came, the former Oasis rocker gets his own pop-up radio station.

Absolute Radio launches the station, called Absolu Radio Noël, from 10 a.m. on June 11 to midnight June 18.

And yes, for a week, fans of English muso will be able to access the dedicated radio for free via radioabsolu.co.uk and the Absolute radio application.

It will be a treat for fans, with the station offering an exclusive interview with Noel as well as a host of unique performances, archival content, new album tracks and a Through the decades playlist chosen by Noel himself.

Before the station is launched, Absolute Radio Hometime presenters Andy Bush and Richie Firth sat down with Noel to talk about everything from life on lockdown to the current state of music.

Speaking of the coronavirus pandemic, Noel insisted he was not ready to return to lockdown if necessary.

“By the way, I will not restart the lockdown if anyone listens to the government,” he said.

“I am not disturbed by what you say, I do not come in and that’s it. I’m going to buy a nightclub in the West End and open it 24 hours a day, even if it’s just me playing my own songs.

In another snippet of the juicy interview, Noel bluntly gives his thoughts on the current music climate, where he explains why there are apparently no longer any real bands.

“The music industry doesn’t like mavericks,” he said. “

“You know, the reason there’s no more bands now, is because in the 90s, Oasis and Primal Scream, Blur and Pulp, we were the mainstream, and what the industry of the music doesn’t like it is that the general public is a bunch of guys on drugs, drunk half the time on a Tuesday.

“They don’t like it. Luckily we were bought out when Top of the Pops and the charts were everything and now I’m listening to the charts and it’s just embarrassing I think.
