Just one ride is on a mission to revive the spirit of the early ’90s alternative rock scene that erupted in Seattle and influenced a generation. Big fans of Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, the UK-based quartet draw their influence from this era.
Combining this with their millennial punk rock and nu-metal upbringing, the result is a sound that carries the legacy of grunge with a contemporary twist.
Founded by former Violent Delight band members Rod Henderson (vocals) and Drew Lowe (guitar) in 2015 as a writing project after some time out of the music industry, the duo added drummer Alex Bailey and bassist Russ Stedman to round out the line-up and bring their sound to the stage.
Having recently recorded their first album, the group is ready to conquer the world of rock. Slated for release on February 25, 2022, the album was produced by Dave Draper (The Wildhearts, The Professionals) and mixed by the legendary Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro).
The guys will be on the road promoting the record throughout 2022.
Just A Ride have been busy writing and need to return to the studio to continue developing their sound and feed the growing appetite for their grunge-infused hard rock.
With great support from Spotify and a growing following on their social media accounts, the group was able to reach music fans and collaborate with artists around the world; an experience that provides a great source of creative inspiration.
The group’s burning ambition is to cement its place at the forefront of the resurgent scene and turn these virtual connections into international gigs.
The stage is set. It is now. All you have to do is come and have a look…

ABOUT THE SONG:
No Way Out is a song about how many young people today are saddled with debt and unable to make the same start in life that previous generations took for granted. As someone (Rod) who was consumed by credit card debt at a low point in his mid-twenties, this is something we have actual experience with too! It was a hell of a battle to get out of it and as a student of economics, it’s not too hard to see that our financial system is pretty much designed to do that to people. The song references a few ways the financial industry pretty much controls our lives; debt slavery, the way we sell our rights and privacy for services that seem free but really aren’t, the erosion of democracy in favor of corporate interests and the question: “Is what the hunt for the fruits of a consumer lifestyle is really alive”?
When we recorded the song we were immersed in the COVID 2020 pandemic, so lyrically it fit well with what a lot of people were thinking at the time when it was unclear when life would return to normal. At the time it seemed like there was no way out, but hopefully we can all look forward to better days as we seem to be slowly returning to some kind of normality.
The song was one of the first we wrote, actually part of the demos Drew put together before he auditioned the band members. It follows a really simple structure; led by a repetitive main riff that makes up the verse, chorus and middle 8. Although we consider ourselves to be heavily influenced by grunge, “No Way Out” has more of a classic rock vibe, another genre we’re big fans of. : Rod – Voice
