Black Ferns legend Farah Palmer promises a strong Maori flavor at the opener of tomorrow’s Women’s Rugby World Cup.

Dr. Palmer captained the winning team for the first three tournaments, and she played a big role in securing the tournament for Aotearoa.

She says the opening of what is expected to be a sold-out Eden Park will showcase the country’s Maori heritage.

“So we involve Ngati Whatua Orakei, we involve hapu in Whangarei (for the Whangarei games), we had Lady Hinewehi Mohi’s blessing to do the Wa Poi and we did it I think in a really tika way,” says- she.

Dr. Palmer says giving away free poi to fans is something unique to Aotearoa.
