Get your amateur radio license, October 25

Submitted by the San Juan County Amateur Radio Society.

Amateur radio (amateur radio) is a popular hobby and service that brings people, electronics, and communication together. People use amateur radio to talk across the country, around the world, or even in space, all without the Internet or cell phones. It’s fun, social, educational, and can be a lifeline when needed.

The San Juan County Amateur Radio Society (SJCARS) will be offering the Friday Harbor licensing exam on Saturday, October 23 in the morning (we’ll set your exact time with you). There is no minimum age and no fee for the exam.

We all start with the entry-level Technician license. The test has 35 multiple choice questions. All potential questions and their answers are posted. People who review the questions and take practice tests online will pass the exam. If you are interested, we will recommend a book or an online course. We are here to answer your questions while you study.

For people already licensed and wishing to switch to “General” or “Extra”, we will also offer these exams during this session.

If you would like to participate, email before October 18th.
