First session of the YOTA contest on May 21

IARU Region 1 reports that the first session of the 2022 YOTA competition will take place soon on May 21

Take the opportunity to test your stations a week before the CQWPX CW contest, or better yet, open up your radio station to the next generation and become a station sponsor. Give the next generation a chance on the radio and get the assets working in the YOTA contest.

Thus, we would like to remind you that we will again have three (3) YOTA contest sessions in 2022. Many participants have already enjoyed the 2021 sessions and so we hope to involve even more people in the events this year.

The next three sessions will take place on the following days:

1st round | May 21, 2022 | 0800 – 1959 UTC
2nd round | July 23, 2022 | 1000 – 2159 UTC
3rd round | December 30, 2022 | 1200 – 2359 UTC

So, are you ready to participate in the next YOTA contest? Everyone in the amateur radio community can participate, it takes place three times a year and lasts only 12 hours. Its goal is to increase youth activity on the airwaves, enhance the reputation of the YOTA program, and demonstrate support for young people around the world.

Over the past year, we have received several rule translations in different languages. Many thanks to the contributors! So if you are not fluent in English check them out here

If you have any further questions after reading the rules, please visit our FAQ page to see if your question has already been answered. If you still have a question, feel free to email the YOTA Contest Committee at and we’ll be happy to answer you.

On behalf of the YOTA Contest Committee,
