Fayette County Amateur Radio Field Day 2018 6/23/24

Members of the Fayette County Amateur Radio Club will participate in the National Amateur Radio Exercise Field Day, June 23-24 at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Scout Hut located at 180 E. Lanier Ave, Fayetteville, GA. This event is free and open to the public.

The program of events is:

saturday 23 june 2018
2:00 p.m. The day’s field operation begins.
6:00 p.m. Dinner at the Boy Scout Hut
7:00 p.m. D-Star and Winlink training and demonstration!
8:00 p.m. Radio operation in the evening and at night

Sunday 24 June 2018
2:00 p.m. The day’s field operation concludes.

Since 1933, amateur (amateur) radio operators across North America have established temporary amateur radio stations in public places during Field Day to showcase the science and skills of amateur radio. The club also provides communication support for public events such as Balloons Over Fayette, March of Dimes Walk-a-Thon, Cystic Fibrosis Ride for Life and Tri-PTC Triathlon.

Anyone can become a licensed amateur radio operator. There are over 725,000 licensed radio amateurs in the United States, as young as 5 and 100 years old.
