DALLAS – As people battled through the crowded roads at local Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex sports stations honored their duty Thursday morning to update fans on what might happen later tonight during the NFL Draft in this regarding the Dallas Cowboys.
On The Ticket, Dallas’ largest sports station in terms of listenership and deeply devoted fans, a roundtable of hosts from various shows as well as Cowboys insiders quickly popped the options before settling into a long conversation involving the Arkansas Razorbacks and the draft.
The first topic of conversation was Treylon Burks, whom they had all seen. Although they all agreed that Dallas’ primary need was an offensive lineman, most likely Zion Johnson from Boston College or Texas A&M Kenyon Green, the general consensus was that if it was the receiver and that pick was Treylon Burks, they’d all be fine with that.

A host, Bob Sturm, said he believed in Burks enough to promise he wouldn’t blame Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for putting on his Razorback hat and calling the Hogs.
They all said they watched Burks when he played against A&M and, George Dunham, who has a son who went to Arkansas, said he watched Burks a lot.
They were impressed with his size and speed in the game and were jubilant that a Deebo Samuel “starter kit” might come to Dallas, even joking about a receiver playing back whose they always scoffed when the Cowboys would break it might actually work now.
However, it was after several minutes of gushing over Burks and fantasizing about how a run on receivers could excite the Cowboys enough to pull the trigger on a wide receiver that a curious statement slipped out that n might not have been meant for air – unless it was definitely meant for air.
It’s hard to tell with the games played by NFL teams before the draft.

While talking about watching Burks at the A&M game at AT&T Stadium, the gentleman who works most closely with the Cowboys who isn’t a host mentioned that Burks and the Arkansas defensive lineman really stood out.
He then quickly added before anyone could follow, he had been told not to dig too deep into this unnamed defensive lineman for specific reasons and left it at that.
If we’re talking about the Razorbacks defensive linemen having a good game against Texas A&M, it’s not a quick jump to John Ridgeway.
There would be only two reasons why this comment would be made.
The first would be for Dallas Cowboy officials to let someone who was going to cover their draft know not to waste their time because there were numerous character or talent flaws that made them undraftable.
The second is because they ask a member of the media not to play Ridgeway and to indicate that he is on the Cowboys’ radar because they want to try to recruit him without other teams using him. as a lever to obtain an additional choice.
Considering the Cowboys came out firmly in Kelvin Joseph’s corner following his recent association with a South Dallas murder, character flaws aren’t an issue even though there were indications that Ridgeway had.
This does not seem to be the case.

RIdgeway’s performance in the Senior Bowl and in practices has impressed teams, which is why he quietly glided across the board until dawn to earn a place among the top 150 players available.
That might be assuming too much, but the more likely scenario is that the Cowboys have spoken to people who will work on draft coverage and create fictional drafts in local media, many of whom worked with the Cowboys, to make them a solid and don’t look like RIdgeway might be a target.
However, there is always the other angle. So many false leads “slip” just before the draft.
It may come from the way team officials tell a reporter known for his journalistic ethics something off the record that is a blatant lie to mislead other teams if it were to come out, or go to other members media that aren’t necessarily reporters who might like a favor or get on the road in exchange for accidentally dropping information that would tip the Cowboys’ hand.

If that’s the case, the Cowboys think Ridgeway is someone another team has a strong eye on and try to get them to trade with them or take Ridgeway right in front of them so their true target is always available.
Both scenarios are good for Ridgeway.
His tenacity and average streak on the court, along with his size and athleticism, have put him on NFL radars and made him big bucks over the past few weeks.
As long as the check is long and the opportunity is good, Ridgeway is highly unlikely to care about the end of any mind games he finds himself in.
