City Times Sound will turn 88.3 HD-2 into San Diego’s only local music radio station

It’s time for City Times Sound to play its spring semester lineup.
On Monday, March 14 at 5 p.m., listeners can tune in KSDS 88.3 HD-2 FM, or access the online streamfor a new world of sound brought to you by a dedicated team of student curators.
HD-2 brings you all things San Diego/Tijuana, and its mission is to create a home for local sound artists of all genres.
From student DJs spinning local tunes to podcasts produced by the CTS team, HD-2 celebrates the region’s eclectic, diverse and far-reaching communities – past and present.

Monday 03/14 at 5 p.m. & 9 p.m. – Knight Life
The Knight Life is a student-produced podcast content block. This episode features some highlights from the fall 2021 semester, including episodes of call-in show “The Listening Machine” and music interview show “San Diego Local Spotlight.”
The Listening Machine: In this Season 1 episode, which focused on the experiences of San Diegans living through the COVID-19 pandemic, we hear from a grandmother about the struggles of reintegrating into society after so many months of self-isolation. . We also hear of an essential worker who did not have the luxury of self-isolation.
San Diego Area Spotlight: SDLS host Skylar Eppler travels to National City to speak with members of Los Shadows about the band’s early days and how, despite their promising trajectory, everything came to a screeching halt during the pandemic. The group also discusses the challenge of navigating a changing social scene.
tuesday 03/15 at 5 p.m. & 9 p.m. – Mood Ring, Ep.1
Bring indie (or pop) rock, post-punk, -waves the -gazes, and all the new absurd suffixes that the internet fever dream hive brain is coughing up in the years to come. Mood Ring host Jakob McWhinney digs up some good local music that’s got sugar and edge, and serves it up shaken, aiming to make listeners wonder “wait…this artist is from San Diego?? “

Wednesday 03/16 at 5 p.m. & 9 p.m. – Newscene Radio
Newscene is a nationally award-winning weekly news program produced, directed and hosted by San Diego City College radio, television and film students. This is the flagship program of the new CTTV, which is expanding its programming to include a weekly radio news item.
Thursday 03/17 at 5 p.m. & 9 p.m. – CityChill, Ep. 1
CityChill brings together an eclectic mix of music to create a vibe that can, at the risk of sounding cliché, be described as chill. Host Skylar Eppler will navigate through San Diego’s indie music scene of past, present and future, and showcase songs that throw the idea of genre out the window and seem to connect to each other through their influences. municipalities. Lo-fi, chillwave, trip-hop, ambient, experimental, downtempo only begin to describe what you might find on CityChill.
