AGARTAL: Tripura is preparing to set up an amateur radio in order to overhaul the disaster management system.
Already, a total of 1500 civil servants and volunteers have been trained to run the amateur radio station, Chief Revenue Secretary of Tripura – Puneet Agarwal has informed.
Agarwal said, “The government of Tripura is working proactively to train a good team of volunteers. The existing state disaster management mechanism is very active and in all kinds of natural disasters it has worked quickly.
He said: “Our team is active around the clock and already four companies of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been formed. A total of 1250 people were trained in different levels of civil defense volunteering at the district level. »
According to Agarwal, theApada Mitrais also implemented in Tripura.

“In seven districts (of Tripura), 800 people will be trained and so far 250 volunteers have already received the necessary training,” Agarwal said.
He also informed that for transparent disaster management, community volunteers will be appointed by the Revenue Department of Tripura at a fixed fee of Rs 200 per day.
He said that on the third Saturday of every month exercises will be held in each school to sensitize students on various aspects of earthquakes and ways to escape natural calamities.
The School Education Department of Tripura is also extending all assistance and efforts are also underway to make some infrastructure earthquake resistant.
